Welcome to the Audubon Lifestyles website |
Living sustainably means intentionally incorporating into your daily life practices that tend to sustain the earth's resources. There are many different possibilities... so many, that you can easily feel overwhelmed. Many people want to live more sustainably, but don't quite know what to do or where to start.
One key guideline is to start slowly and build gradually. If you try to turn your lifestyle upside down overnight, you're likely to feel overwhelmed and give up. Some of these changes can be very small (but effective), and are really a matter of changing old habits. Others may take more commitment of time and resources.
The Audubon Lifestyles website and our programs have been created as a way to assist indvididuals, businesses, neighborhoods, and communities seeking to take steps towards living sustainably.

Double Oaks Neighborhood issued Approved Audubon Lifestyles Design
The Approved Audubon Lifestyles Design designation indicates that the current land plan that will be used to guide the construction and development of Double Oaks Neighborhood meets these goals, and is consistent with the International Sustainability Council (ISC) Principles of Sustainability. This designation marks an important milestone for the development as it strives toward the ultimate goal of attaining the ISC Seal of Sustainability, and becoming recognized as an Audubon Lifestyles Sustainable Neighborhood.
“We are so pleased to be associated with this project, and are proud to issue the Approved Audubon Lifestyles Design to the Double Oaks Neighborhood Development.”, stated Eric Dodson, Executive Director of Audubon Lifestyles. He added, "The Housing Partnership’s dedication to building a truly sustainable neighborhood goes far beyond simply building with the environment in mind. The economic and social responsibility attributes of this project embody what it means to create a truly sustainable neighborhood.”

What is an Audubon Lifestyle?
While that is really up to each one of us, an Audubon Lifestyle is ultimately based on making informed decisions in each of our lives that makes good environmental sense, good economic sense, and good sense for society at large. Every day each of us make hundreds of decisions concerning the products that we buy and use, what we eat, what kind of automobile we are going to use, and on and on. But, we also need to decide if we will actually keep informed on all the issues that are connected to environmental protection, economic prosperity and social equity. And… if you do, and we hope that you will…that is an Audubon Lifestyle!
